‘Dedicated to safety': Services, arrangements for longtime Fort Lee, county dispatcher Michael Woods

TRIBUTE: Services for longtime Fort Lee dispatcher Michael Woods will be held at the Becker Funeral Home on Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Woods, who worked for the borough the past 15 years after coming over from the Bergen County Police Department, died suddenly Monday afternoon.mwoods1111

“Over the past 15 years, we have received numerous letters of appreciation from the public and his supervisors concerning the outstanding work provided by Mike as he performed his job,” Fort Lee Police Chief Keith Bendul wrote.

“Mike was also the union representative for his fellow Telecommunicators, and he was always willing to help anyone in need,” the chief said. “He will be greatly missed by the Fort Lee community, especially from all of the first responders who appreciated his dedication to public safety.”

He was the son of Robert and the late Diane Woods; brother of John Woods and wife Jackie, Rick Woods and wife Lori, Kenny Woods and wife Terri, Jimmy Woods and Robbie Woods; uncle of Kevin, Kristin, Samantha, Matthew, Brandon, Madison and Vinny.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood.

Woods will be laid to rest in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus following Monday’s service.
