TRIBUTE: Retired Glen Rock Police Sgt. Jay Frederick Green died at his North Carolina home on New Year’s Eve. He was 73.
Born in Middletown, NY, Green served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was an avid outdoorsman and was proficient in horticulture.
He played golf for many years and at one point shot in the 70s, family members said.
Green briefly served with the New York State Police before joining the Glen Rock Police Department in April 1964. He was promoted to sergeant in August 1978 and retired on Dec. 1, 1989.
Among many commendations, Green received a meritorious service commendation after he and two colleagues chased and caught an armed assailant who shot another man several times with a .38-caliber revolver on Harristown Road on Sept. 9, 1974. READ MORE….
