SHOUT OUTS: The Port Authority Police Department will promote 79 of its uniformed officers to higher ranks during a ceremony on Friday.
Raymond Bryan will be promoted to deputy chief and Ronald Shindel will be promoted to deputy inspector at the 10 a.m. event at St. Peter’s University, MacMahon Student Center, 2641 Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City.
The remaining 77 officers will be promoted to the ranks of detective lieutenant (2); detective sergeant (4); lieutenant (18); sergeant (41) and detective (12). The promotions will backfill the 87 supervisory officers who retired since the department’s last round of promotions.
The Port Authority Police Department is responsible for protecting the traveling public who use the agency’s major airports, tunnels, bridges, seaport and PATH system. The PAPD also patrols the World Trade Center site.
